VEGETARIAN  CELIAC VEGGIE MEALS LOSE WEIGHT
Easy Veggie Meal Plans
 This Season has found us catering for quite a few vegetarians and celiacs, which has been challenging, trying to find something different from the normal dishes often offered in restaurants.
First thing to concentrate on was Breakfast. I always offer yoghurt, a bowl of fresh fruit and cereals along with slices of raisin and cinnamon loaf. Porridge is always available too. When it comes to the cooked vegetarian breakfast, then it usually tomato, mushrooms, egg, baked beans and fried bread but having this everyday can be boring. So I introduced small American type pancakes, stacking them with layers of fruit and a home made fruit sauce . These are very popular, vegetarian or not. Once one guest sees them, you can bet the next day at least 4 guests make these their choice.But why stop there, so I tried them with creamed mushrooms, sliced tomato then topped with beans or a poached egg. Cheese sauce always added to the variety along with a fried egg. Lovely. we now have found excellent Vegetarian and Gluten Free Sausages.
I took to experimenting with vegetables I had seen on the fruit and veg counters but had never tasted and was nicely surprised. Sweet potatoes and butternut squash were definitely new to the taste buds and the more variety of vegetables I tried, the better the ideas I got for meals.
I tried quorn and then found some meatless products from a major supermarket were good, so played around with these and turned out some tasty, filling meals.
Since Rosemary closed The Byre, in Harbottle, herself taking off to Australia, there aren't any dedicated Vegetarian Guest Houses or B&B's and certainly not that many offering Evening Meals either and some of our Eateries and Pubs aren't really interested in  Vegetarian foods. So I decided that if I am going to offer vegetarians an evening meal, I would do some research done and find some help from the experts.
I was surprised at the variety of menus to offer and currently preparing a new Menu for my vegetarian guests with the help of Easy veggie meal plans.

I must admit I hadn't a clue what a Celiac was when asked do I cater for them whilst taking the booking enquiry. Thought is was a religion but the enquirer went on to explain that this was a severe food allergy. Now that I understood, having a severe drug allergy and had the experience of going into anaphylactic shock and dying, twice, but that's another story. So heeded the lady carefully.
Once I knew what the allergies were and this one was gluten, lactose and some fruits, wow, I planned a menu around them. Oh yes, they booked. Well, I must have gotten it right as she eat breakfast and 3 course meals for the 5 days she stayed without any problems and has since returned. She was also kind enough to recommend us to the Celiac site.
I have experimented with the flour and make bread from a recipe supplied by a celiac guest, offer cakes and puddings for desserts with pancakes and cereals for breakfast.
